Like Brother Campbell, the editor of tills paper does not relish contro versies over such matters as dancing. There will be no "dance" controversy so far as we are concerned. We, also, appreciate Llllington, the county, and Buies Creek especial ly, because we find such excellent people in this territory. And "we like our company." Brother Campbell's letter will be found in another column of this is sue. There are a number of things that could be said in regard to the matter, but we feel so sure our read ers understand us, that no good pur pose would be served in dwelling upon the Lillington dance, from which no" harm has resulted so far as we have heard. We are against the evils of dancing, as also against the evils of other things. The conscience of the editor of this paper is working now in the same sensitive manner that it did when the "Notice of Dance at Buies Creek Dormitory" was refused pub lication, the copy of which is on file in this office. Truth is easily estab lished when once it is sought. Brother Campbell states that "many good people" dance." Quite so. And they who indulge will never, we hope, read in these col umns anything that will be calcu lated to hurt their feelings in the matter, as the curt Judgment of The Little River Record surely did. And If "good people" do wrong, their consciences will hurt! Ten States which hate not passed on the woman suffrage amendment arei Connecticut, Delaware, Florida. REPUBLICAN'S WORKING. The Republican party in Harnett County has begun Its seuson'a "book-! lngs" by Issuing membership cards. These cards read that applicants for ! membership not only desire to con nect themselves with the Republican patty, but pledge their "bestest" eN forts for the success of the party and Its principles, It may not be the Intention of the Republicans to make their party Mich it exclusive affair that members will hi admitted enly by card, Rather, It may he presumed (hat I hi leaders are panting about to tet Ihelr real wtiength. In other words, to Hnd oul who's who, It may ba safely said, however, mat oniy uepuoucans will Bign up for membership, Certainly no Dem ocrat will pledge allegiance to an op posing party at least, not In Har nett County, The card system Is being used In every county In the State, it Is un derstood. By which It may be In ferred that the Republicans are de termined that the Democrats will not he allowed to "go on forever" un challenged. The wisdom of the card system may he questioned, hut that is their business, not ours. Only in passing, It could well he remarked that "I sign nothing!" is the buffer most commonly used when literature Is "propaganded" as between men and measures, Well, well. Let the Republican party compile its card Index strength in pledged members, and. the free and unhaltered Democrats will come along and pile up such a majority that the little stack of cards will fall and become worthless to the "bene ficiary" membership. And then all that trouble will- have been taken for nothing. " Aw, pickles! North Carolina Harnett County. In the Superior Court Before the J Clerk. . i D. J. Thomas j vs. ! N'arclssa Thomas, J. II.
